The bailey trail trek traces the historic routes taken by Lt. Col. F. M. Bailey and Capt H. T. Morshead during their survey in the Arunachal Tibet border during British rule in India to draw the famous McMohan line in 1914. This route gain popularity as Bailey Trail. This route goes through remote forest, high mountain passes, crystal clear lakes, abandoned army bunkers and breathtaking views of Gorichen and Kangto peak.

Day 1

Date : September 15, 2019

Guwahati – Bhalukpong (5-6 hrs) (245 KM) (By Vehicle)

We will be travelling from Guwahati to Bhalukpong on road and will be accommodated in a hotel in Bhalukpong. Bhalukpong is the entry point to Arunachal Pradesh. In the evening hours we will be have a pre expedition ride in and around the locality. Followed with delicious dinner and good night sleep.

Day 2

Date : September 16, 2019

Bhalukpong – Bomdila – Thembang(2300 mtrs) (142 km) (5-6 hrs) (By Vehicle)

Thembang is an ancient village, which was said to be established before First century AD. The village is considered as the most ancient village in the region. Thembang village and Dzong are surrounded with the majestic beauty of lush green hills, steep gorges and snow clad peaks.

Day 3

Date : September 17, 2019

Thembang – Pangma – Lagaam village(2650 mtrs) 10 km (Trek)

On the first day of trek the route was mostly covered by forest area where we have cross streams in certain segment. Lagam is small village with very few population and most of the villagers are out in the hills to graze the yaks before the arrival of winter.

Day 4

Date : September 18, 2019

Trek from Lagaam village to Lagaam Top(3172 mtrs) 8 km

We will start our trek after prayer at the village monastery. The first 3 km of the trek was an uphill hike until we arrive at the motor able road that leads to the ITBP camp. We will camp near the ITBP camp.

Day 5

Date : September 19, 2019

Trek from Lagaam Top to Changla(3751 mtrs) 15 km

The whole route was covered with forest and in the latter section there are lot of isolated bunker of Indian Army which were used during Indo-China war. The Chinese army has used the Bailey trail route during the war to reach Thembang.

Day 6

Date : September 20, 2019

Trek from Changla to Potok(4180 mtrs) 12 km

After steep climb to Pshing La Pass (3950 meters) we descend through forest of rhododendrons and cross a stream before continuing our climb to the high alpine pastures of Potak to camp at a beautiful spot near stream.

Day 7

Date : September 21, 2019

Trek from Potok to Lurthim(4142 mtrs) via Tse La Pass(4711 mtrs) 15 km

On the way to Tse La Pass we visit the alpine lake near the pass and continue our climb to the pass. Once we reach the pass we have done the hardest part of today’s trek. After this we descend till we reached a ITBP camp where we have report and after that we continue our trek to reach the camp site.

Day 8

Date : September 22, 2019

Trek from Lurthim to Mago(3531 mtrs) 14 km

A few steep sections but generally leisurely level-walks through forest and cross few yak huts on the way to Mago. Camp near the village.

Day 9

Date : September 23, 2019

Trek from Mago to Thingbu Hydel(2736 mtrs)

Trek along the Tawang-chu river and a steep climb to reach the village. You will cross few suspension bridges on the way. Camp near the village.

Day 10

Date : September 24, 2019

Transfer from Thingbu Hydel to Tawang (By vehicle).

Transfer to Tawang by vehicle and on the way visit Jung falls. On arrival check in at a hotel in Tawang.

Day 11

Date : September 25, 2019

Explore Tawang

Explore Tawang, the land of the Monpa Tribe is also famous for the monastery which 400 years old and is the second largest Monastery in Asia. Also visit Urgelling Monastery - the birth place of Sixth Dalia Lama. Ani Gompa, PTSo lake, and Sangetsar Lake, after a late lunch and refreshment visit Tawang War Memorial and evening at leisure. Overnight at Tawang.

Day 12

Date : September 26, 2019

Transfer from Tawang to Bomdila. (By vehicle)

Travelling on the same route, through which you rode earlier, head towards Bomdila, located beyond the Dirang Valley.

Day 13

Date : September 27, 2019

Transfer from Bomdila to Guwahati. (By vehicle)

In the morning visit Bomdila Monastery and head towards Guwahati. Overnight at Guwahati.

Day 14

Date : September 28, 2019


In the morning visit Kamakhya Temple and depart for airport.
